Jay County Varsity Patriots Claims Win In Thrilling Showdown Against Woodlan By GameChanger Media Jay County Varsity Patriots beat Woodlan 6-5 on Thursday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at five in the top of the seventh when Garrett Bennett singled, scoring one run. Despite falling down by four runs in the third inning, Woodlan tried to fight back. Woodlan closed the gap by scoring on a single, a single, and a single. A single by Kade Sommers put Jay County Varsity Patriots on the board in the top of the first. Jay County Varsity Patriots scored two runs in the top of the third on a home run to left field by Carter Fugiett. Woodlan tied the game up in the bottom of the third thanks to two singles. Woodlan tied the game at four on a single by N Meeks. Woodlan took the lead in the bottom of the fourth. C Rosier singled, scoring one run, to give Woodlan the edge, 5-4. Jay County Varsity Patriots took the lead, 6-5, in the top of the seventh thanks to singles by Sommers, and Bennett. Aiden Phillips earned the win for Jay County Varsity Patriots. The pitcher surrendered zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out three and walking two. J Halsey took the loss for Woodlan. The hurler went one inning, surrendering two runs (one earned) on three hits, striking out one and walking none. Joseph Geesaman stepped on the bump first for Jay County Varsity Patriots. The starting pitcher surrendered eight hits and five runs (three earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out three and walking none. Meeks began the game for Woodlan. The pitcher gave up six hits and four runs over six innings, striking out seven and walking three. Zedrian Vazquez tossed one and two-thirds innings of no-run ball for Jay County Varsity Patriots in relief. The pitcher surrendered two hits, striking out none and walking none. Jay County Varsity Patriots piled up nine hits in the game. Sommers provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Jay County Varsity Patriots with three runs batted in. The first baseman went 2-for-4 on the day. Bennett, Fugiett, and Sommers each collected two hits for Jay County Varsity Patriots. Woodlan amassed 10 hits in the game.
