Jay County Varsity Patriots Defeats Monroe Central On Back Of Clutch Display From Carter Fugiett By GameChanger Media Carter Fugiett drove in five runs on three hits to lead Jay County Varsity Patriots past Monroe Central 14-3 on Monday at Jay County Jr-Sr High School. Fugiett hit a home run to center field in the second inning, scoring three runs, and doubled in the first inning, scoring one. Monroe Central got on the board in the top of the first inning after Monroe Central scored on a passed ball, and Pence laid down a sacrifice bunt, each scoring one run. Jay County Varsity Patriots flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring five runs on three hits to take the lead, 6-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to center field by Fugiett that drove in three. Jay County Varsity Patriots added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Brady Jetmore walked, Wyatt Foster was struck by a pitch, and Fugiett was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run. Jay County Varsity Patriots scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Jetmore singled, scoring two runs, Grant Wendel doubled, scoring one run, and Leighton Brown grounded out, scoring two runs. Austin Myers started on the hill for Jay County Varsity Patriots. The right-handed pitcher surrendered four hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking five. Duncan began the game for Monroe Central. The hurler surrendered four hits and nine runs (five earned) over three innings, striking out six and walking four. Jetmore collected two hits for Jay County Varsity Patriots in two at bats. Joseph Geesaman led Jay County Varsity Patriots with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting six walks for the game. Jay County Varsity Patriots were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Andrew Schemenaur had the most chances in the field with five. Bogue, Duncan, Wilson, and Oliphant each collected one hit for Monroe Central. Oliphant and Pence each drove in one run for Monroe Central.
