Softball Go Down On Final Play Against Woodlan Varsity vs Woodlan Jr/Sr High School (4 - 5) Loss Jay County Patriots Go Down On Final Play Against Woodlan By GameChanger Media A walk-off left Jay County Patriots on the wrong end of a 5-4 defeat to Woodlan on Saturday. The game was tied at four in the bottom of the tenth when A Klotz singled, scoring one run. Jay County Patriots lost despite out-hitting Woodlan 15 to 11. Jaelynn Lykins, Mallory Winner, Brenna Ruble, and Chloe Brown each collected three hits for Jay County Patriots. Woodlan were the first to get on the board in the first when K Reed grounded out, scoring one run. Jay County Patriots made the score 4-3 in the top of the sixth after Winner singled, scoring one run, Ava Bice singled, scoring two runs, and Natalie May hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. L Metzger doubled to center field, which helped Woodlan tie the game at four in the bottom of the seventh. S Martin earned the win for Woodlan. The reliever surrendered four hits and zero runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking none. Winner took the loss for Jay County Patriots. The pitcher went nine and one-third innings, surrendering five runs on 11 hits, striking out nine and walking five. P Emenhiser started in the circle for Woodlan. The pitcher allowed six hits and three runs over five innings, striking out one and walking two. Jay County Patriots collected 15 hits in the game. Bice led Jay County Patriots with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The right fielder went 1-for-5 on the day. Woodlan piled up 11 hits in the game. T Crozier, A Harvey, L Riley, and Klotz each collected two hits for Woodlan. Metzger, Reed, Riley, and Klotz each drove in one run for Woodlan. Woodlan had a strong eye at the plate, collecting five walks for the game. Metzger and Harvey led the team with two bases on balls each. Woodlan turned one double play in the game.
